DERMATOLOGIST-LED SKINCARE D2C

SHOPIFY WEBSITE DESIGN STORY

Remedy Skin makes clinically-backed, all-in-one treatments. The website had to make ‘stacked’ actives feel simple, not overwhelming.

A dermatologist-founded skincare brand needed a Shopify store that could turn complex, multi-ingredient formulations into a simple, concern-first shopping experience. Here's what we built.

ORIGIN

Founded by board-certified dermatologist Dr. Muneeb Shah, widely known as @dermdoctor, bringing genuine clinical authority most skincare brands can't claim.

PRODUCT PHILOSOPHY

Built around ‘Super Stacked™’ treatments, all-in-one formulas that combine multiple clinically proven actives into a single targeted product, instead of a ten-step routine.

TRUST FRAMEWORK

A documented ‘Do No Harm™’ principle, excluding common allergens and irritants, hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, and never animal tested.

Pain Point

Remedy Skin's whole promise was simplicity. The website couldn't undercut that with a complicated shopping experience.

A brand built on ‘Super Stacked’ treatments, formulas that do the work of several products in one, has a specific positioning to protect: skincare doesn't have to be complicated to be effective. But that promise is easy to undermine with a site structure that makes shoppers dig through dozens of products, unclear skin concerns, and generic product pages to find what actually applies to them. With a real dermatologist's name behind the brand and a genuinely rigorous ‘Do No Harm’ formulation standard, Remedy also needed a site polished enough to match a founder with millions of followers and a retail presence in Target stores nationwide. The challenge wasn't the product philosophy, it was building a store that let customers shop by their actual skin concern first, and made the clinical rigor behind each formula visible without turning every product page into a science lecture.

“A brand promising simplicity can't ask customers to work hard to find the right product. The site has to do that thinking for them.”

Execution

The team behind it

Shopify designers and developers built the site around concern-first navigation and the brand's clinical credibility.

Customers could browse by skin concern, skin type, ingredient, or routine step, not just a flat product grid, so a first-time visitor could find their exact issue in seconds.

Each ‘Super Stacked’ treatment was presented with its specific concerns and matching benefits side by side, translating clinical formulation into a plain-language shopping decision.

Hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, allergen-free, and cruelty-free claims were built into their own dedicated section, not buried in ingredient lists.

Customer photos and specific results sat alongside a ‘Build My Routine’ quiz, giving both social proof and a guided path for shoppers unsure where to start.

01

01 Built shop navigation around skin concerns, not just product categories.

Customers don't think in SKUs, they think in problems. We structured browsing by skin concern, skin type, ingredient, and routine step, so a visitor could find exactly what applied to them without learning the brand's product names first.

03

03 Gave the ‘Do No Harm’ standard its own dedicated, visible section.

Hypoallergenic and allergen-free claims mean nothing if nobody sees them. We built a standalone trust section for the brand's formulation standards, so credibility did its work before a customer even reached a product page.

02

02 Turned clinical formulation into plain-language concern-and-benefit cards.

A ‘Super Stacked’ treatment is a complex formula. We built homepage product cards that paired each listed concern directly with its corresponding benefit, translating the science into a decision a customer could make in seconds.

What we did

05

01 Built shop navigation around skin concerns, not just product categories.

04

04 Built real testimonials and a guided quiz into the core shopping journey.

Not every visitor knows what they need. We structured genuine customer testimonials alongside a personalized ‘Build My Routine’ quiz, giving uncertain shoppers a guided path instead of leaving them to browse blind.

This wasn't a website project. It was building a store that made genuinely complex, clinically-formulated skincare feel as simple as the brand's own promise.

Takeaways for Brand

Takeaways for Brand

Pin icon image

A brand's core promise should be provable in how the site works, not just what it says.

‘Simple’ only means something if the shopping experience actually is.

Pin icon image

Concern-first navigation beats category-first navigation for problem-solving products.

Customers think in issues, not product types.

Pin icon image

Trust and safety standards deserve their own visible moment.

Buried in fine print, they do none of the credibility work they're capable of.

Pin icon image

A quiz or guided tool earns its place when a catalogue is genuinely hard to navigate blind.

Not every shopper arrives already knowing what they need.

Pin icon image

Real testimonials with real photos outperform generic star ratings.

Specificity is what makes social proof actually work.
