PREMIUM ENGINEERED WATCHES D2C

BRAND IDENTITY & GUIDELINE STORY

Origen had watches worth building a brand around. It didn't have the brand yet.

A premium engineered watch brand needed a complete identity system, positioning, voice, visual language, and packaging, built to match the precision of the product itself. Here's the brand we built.

ORIGIN

Built from a refusal to settle for trend-driven design and materials marketed as premium but built cheap, Origen needed a brand identity as considered as its surgical-grade steel and sapphire glass.

AUDIENCE

A specific, well-defined buyer, Gen Z first movers (18–25) as the primary audience, with young professionals and subculture followers layered in as secondary and aspirational segments.

VALUES

Six core values, Confidence, Freedom, Passion, Individuality, Originality, Bold Innovation, that needed to translate into logo, tone, and visuals, not just a values slide.

POSITIONING

‘Not fashion, not hype, expression’, a brand for creators and rule breakers who evaluate materials before they evaluate design.

Pain Point

Origen had a genuinely considered product. It didn't have a brand system built to carry that same level of intent.

A watch brand built on surgical-grade steel, sapphire-coated glass, and Swiss movements is making a real claim to quality, but a claim like that needs an identity precise enough to back it up. Origen didn't have a defined visual language, a settled logo, or a documented voice, which meant every piece of content risked looking like a different brand made it. The brand's target audience, Gen Z first movers who reject trend-driven design, would recognize inconsistency immediately; this is an audience that values originality specifically, so an unoriginal or inconsistent brand system would undercut the product's entire premise. The challenge wasn't the product's quality. It was translating that quality into a logo, a colour and type system, a documented voice, and packaging considered enough that everything Origen touched felt like the same disciplined, engineered brand.

“A brand built on precision and material discipline can't have an identity that looks improvised. Every touchpoint has to prove the same standard the product claims.”

The team behind it

Brand strategists and identity designers built a complete guideline system from positioning through packaging.

The team behind it

Brand strategists and identity designers built a complete guideline system from positioning through packaging.

Primary (Gen Z first movers), secondary (young professionals), and aspirational audiences were mapped in detail, so every design decision that followed had a specific person in mind.

Confidence, Freedom, Passion, Individuality, Originality, and Bold Innovation were built into explicit Do's and Don'ts, so tone stayed consistent across every future piece of content.

The OG monogram was designed to work across every context, watch faces, packaging, and digital touchpoints, without needing to be reinvented per platform.

Primary and secondary fonts, a bold-brown and neutral colour palette, and a defined photography approach were locked into one reference guide, alongside premium packaging design.

01

01 Mapped the exact audience before any design decision was made.

A brand for Gen Z first movers can't be designed on instinct. We defined primary, secondary, and aspirational audience segments in detail, from trendsetting 18–25 year-olds to conscious consumers valuing sustainability, so every design choice had a specific person behind it.

03

03 Built a logo and monogram designed to adapt across every touchpoint.

A premium watch brand's mark has to work on a dial as well as a website. We designed the ‘Timeless Loop’ OG monogram specifically to hold up across watch faces, packaging, and digital platforms without losing its identity.

02

02 Turned six abstract values into explicit voice guidelines.

‘Confidence’ and ‘Originality’ mean nothing without rules. We translated Origen's six core values into concrete Do's and Don'ts, covering everything from tone to language to visual attitude, so consistency didn't depend on memory.

What we did

05

01 Mapped the exact audience before any design decision was made.

04

04 Documented a full visual system, from typography to packaging.

Consistency requires a shared reference, not tribal knowledge. We locked in primary and secondary typefaces, a bold-brown and neutral colour palette, a defined photography style, and premium packaging design, all in one guideline every future piece of work could be checked against.

Takeaways for Brand

Takeaways for Brand

Pin icon image

A logo isn't a brand identity.

Positioning, voice, and visual rules matter more than the mark itself.

Pin icon image

Values only work if they're translated into explicit rules.

‘Be confident’ means nothing without a documented Do and Don't behind it.

Pin icon image

Audience segments deserve real detail, not a single persona.

Primary, secondary, and aspirational buyers are reassured by different things.

Pin icon image

A logo built for one context eventually fails in another.

Design marks to adapt across watch faces, packaging, and screens from day one.

Pin icon image

Packaging is part of the brand system, not an afterthought.

The unboxing moment should carry the same identity as everything before it.
